I have designed a CD front and back cover for a Electro/Dance CD. I have gone for a highly edited look for the front, usesing various filters as in a convention of the genre representing the highly edited structure of the music. Also I choose to use a suited figure to contradict my genre conventions however I then contradicted the suit image by adding a sketched fact and making the background surreal. I did this as the target audience of my CD (Club going males age 18-28) are at an age where they still feel young but are having to settle into jobs. I wanted my CD cover to represent this and promote the idea that a professional job doesn't have to change who you are, or more directly listening to this CD will keep the fun side of your personality alive. I chose to represent this by showing the back cover in the same scene but with the headphones off, without the distortion, much less saturation and a blur to hide the artists face- a convention of the genre being all about the music and also to make the non-music filled enviroment seem less appealing to the Target Audience. I also chose to show quite long track lengths along with track names that conformed with the genre conventions.
